Good Works Ministries exists to serve the surrounding community through various services and operations such as the Food Bank, Thrift Store, Refugee Support, and more. We partner with local organizations to create synergy and deliver more benefit to those in need. We’ve made a tangible impact already and looking forward to make a greater difference together.
At Good Works Ministries, our food bank is a beacon of hope and sustenance, proudly distributing over 32,000 meals every month. Our pantry is stocked with high-quality food, generously donated by distribution centers and retail stores. While our primary focus is on supporting recently immigrated refugees, our doors are open to all members of the community in need. Together, with every meal shared, we bridge cultures, reinforce unity, and ensure that everyone feels welcomed and nourished.
Our thrift store serves as a nexus of community engagement and sustainability. Providing multiple volunteer opportunities, we invite you to give back and be a part of our mission. Shoppers can find a range of affordable clothing and household items, making it a hub for economical and purposeful purchases. As stewards of the environment, any unsold clothing is disposed of responsibly, ensuring our operations leave a minimal ecological footprint.
Beyond immediate relief, Good Works Ministries recognizes the importance of helping refugee integrate holistically. Our refugee support services extend to offering ESL classes, ensuring that linguistic barriers are smoothly overcome. Additionally, understanding the emotional and psychological strains of displacement, we provide counseling services. These offerings are designed to ensure every individual finds community – a sense of belonging, hope, and a renewed purpose in their new community.
Our mission has always been to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate, with a significant focus on aiding Ukrainian refugees and local families facing hardships.
Since our inception, GWM’s Food Bank has been a vital source of nourishment, providing over 30,000 meals monthly. This feat has been possible due to the tireless efforts of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors. Our logistics involve nightly pickups from various warehouses stretching from Seattle to Tacoma, ensuring that those in need receive timely assistance.
However, we find ourselves at a critical juncture. The program’s sustainability is in jeopardy without immediate financial support. Our current challenge revolves around the need for two refrigerated containers, which are crucial for the storage and sorting of donated food. With the summertime approaching and the temperatures increasing, we will not be able to continue to support the 150 families that we serve on a weekly and biweekly basis.
We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for financial support. We aim to raise $50,000 to purchase and install these containers and the needed refrigeration equipment. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of over 150 families we serve weekly and biweekly, many of whom are refugees from the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In these trying times, your support can light up the darkest of days for many. Let us come together to ensure that no family goes to bed hungry and that hope continues to thrive in our community.
Thank you for considering our request. Together, we can make a difference.
